Problem with shadows

Something went wrong with my shadows in this picture. Can someone tell me what the problem is?

Also, does anyone have any tips about memory usage during rendering. I obviously want nice renderings, but my computer keeps complaining about having to little memory to render images.

I hope someone can help.

you refer to the overlapping shadows cast by the mullions.

The sun resolution is not high enough.

You can fix this by not using the SunObject and reverting to the Built-In Sun. ArchiCAD 10 users can select "Realistic Sun" in the Sun Shader Dialog.

We will cover this development in My Los Angeles Seminar next Wednesday (Bobrow Associates).

This is also covered in the ArchiCAD 10 supplement to my "LightWorks in ArchiCAD" book. Order as below.

If your computer complains about too little memory, make smaller renderings, reduce Antialiasing quality, reduce Rendering Method quality, and in ArchiCAD 10, check the box "Get Model Data during rendering process" in the PhotoRendering Dialog or get more memory, already, for what it costs these days.

thanks Dwight,

I read in all sorts of comments on the internet that the sun object is preferable over the interanl sun. Isn't that the case here. And does the internal sun work together well with window light objects and sky objects?

The reason that I don't buy more memory is that I work on a laptop, so it's a bit complicated

I'm with you on that laptop RAM thing.

"Usedtabe" better than the internal sun but not now - ArhciCAD 10 fixes it

If you want more, however, those secrets are revealed in detail in the book.

Here's a basic sample of what the default built-in sun "Realistic sun" does.
