Rendered Floor Plans with a 3'-6" cut plane height on site?

I'd like to take this rendering, cut it horizontally at 3'-6" above the floor line and render it like I would any rendering.

What's the procedure for doing this?

Easiest method:
Use 3d CUTTING PLANE (View > Elements in 3D View > 3D Cutting Planes) function, but it will cut ALL the buildings, not just the colored one.

Cool Method:
Stick in a slab and use it as an SEO to cut all the elements of the building... But you have to delete it (or the seo function) after to get your building back..

Extra Cool Method:
Create a new file and HLM (hotlink module) in your PLAN and do the SEO there... Hotlink will keep up with your PLN file's changes and the SEO will be done in an external file so you don't have to delete it each time.

Other Cool Stuff:
A while back I created an object that is a simple slab that raises and lowers with the FRAMES of an animation. If you use this as an SEO... your building can "grow" out of the ground in an animation.

Good luck!

thanks sir.
I tried method no.1
it's neat.
only thing is that the "preview" image that you use to strike your cutting plane line is impossible to see where to position it on the little 'preview' window.

You can enter precise coordinates in the 3D Cutting Plane dialog in lieu of visually drawing a line. That should help?

thanks Karl,
still....why we can't zoom into the preview icon nor be able to zoom in closer graphically is beyond me.

Agree. That dialog box has not been changed for more than 12 years... a wish for zoom/etc in the preview has been made many times, but Graphisoft must have other priorities... 😞
