Rendering not sized to 3D window?

I am having trouble getting the rendering to show the same size as the 3D window that it is created from. Here are images, notice the white space on the right hand side.

Sorry I should have said before, clicking that botton "size to 3D window" does nothing to fix the problem.

Then save the view to check that AC is saving that extra space, it should not.

Sometimes this will occur when you pan and zoom to a view in the 3D window and go straight to rendering. It seems that the rendering engine doesn't alway get the latest settings. What I usually do is set up a camera for any view I want to render. This locks in the settings and lets me go back to the same view at any time.

I suspect you may have resized the 3d window manually, but not closed it & then opened it again to order to match the view cone of the camera to the width of the window.

After relaunching it you may find it displays a slightly different area than before. The rendered view should now hopefully match.

I have noticed this problem has now been resolved in AC12. After manual resizing, the 3d window automatically recalculates and displays the view with the correct 'view cone' angle. (Which is good news!)

you mean save the view as a jpeg for example, i tried that and it looks fine (no missing information)

Yes I was originally moving through the model and stopped in places to create 3d renderings, and yes I did manually resize the 3d window. After resizing it I clicked "size to 3D window" in the rendering settings and it would not help...Just now I saved a view of the model and then tried closing it and then reopening it. It still does not render correctly.

You're doubling your problem by panning, zooming and orbiting and changing the size/shape of the 3D window. They both equally contribute to this issue.

For a start, keep your 3D window size/shape constant, at least for now. Then when you are in the 3D window, do all your panning and zooming and orbiting until you get the desired angle. Then resize the photorendering to the 3D window and then save your 3D perspective view.

You really don't need to use cameras anymore, as the view will recall the point of view, and you can redefine it just as easy as a camera, if not easier.

If you make any change to the point of view by panning, zooming or orbiting you will need to redefine the view, by using the 'Get Current Window's Settings' button in the View Settings dialog.

If you make any changes to the 3D window size/shape then you will need to 'Size to 3D Window' in the Photorenderings Settings, then redefine your view as above.
