Saving large pictures from 3D window in OpenGL mode

I want to save a picture from the 3d window in shading mode larger than the visible size of the monitor. In order to do this I've increased the sizze of the 3d window in the 3d window settings dilaog box. It worked well with the AC internal engine but when I switch to OpenGL it produces a crazy smeared picture with horrizontal lines.

Has anyone else come upon this problem?

And are there any other ways to save a picture with greater resolution from 3d? I really like the way OpenGL shows textures in Shaded mode and want to present my project in this way.

And I'm on a deadline, of course

I experimented by asking for an OpenGL view 4000x4000 pixels. It gave a view that size but about 3/4 was black. The resultant maximum Open GL view seems to be 2048x2048.

In ArchiCAD 8.1, depending on the VGA card driver, the area of the 3D window that falls outside the display area might not be rendered properly (either black or scattered with noise). Many VGA manufacturers use this trick to gain speed. (after all OpenGL is designed for accelerating the display).

In ArchiCAD 9 we worked it around, so the hidden parts will be rendered properly, no matter what card you have. Dwight hit probably an other graphic card limit, also card/driver dependant. My ol' intel integrated VGA has no problem with 4000*4000.
