Simple hidden line animation in ArchiCAD or Artlantis??

Is there a way to do a simple, quick hidden line animation in Artlantis or ArchiCAD?

...or perhaps I should ask...what would be the best way to go from modeling in ArchiCAD to animating such types of output?

It looks like some compositing is happening where the sketchier elements appear among the more realistic elements....

Thats what I figured...I have the more realistic down with Artlantis...

You would think it would be easier to figure out how to do hidden line vs realistic, but I guess it just requires the right software. I tried doing it by using the edge and pastel post-processing in Artlantis, maximizing edge intensity and minimizing transparency and pastel, but while that works somewhat OK for individual images, it resulted in "marching ants" when animating...

Do you think Im just going to have to sucker up and get into 3d Studio Max?

I think that you could prepare such flythrough in Artlantis without problem. Years ago I made something similar in ArchiCAD sketch rendering mixed with LightWorks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4LMrNhvGMQ
Windows MovieMaker or MacOs iMovie is enough to merge two sequence in one.

Your YouTube animation is exactly what I am going for. I have no problem stitching together hidden line and rendered animations, as I have some experience with After Effects and Premiere.

Is it possible to preserve the animation path from ArchiCAD to Artlantis, in order to do the sketch hidden line from ArchiCAD and rendered from Artlantis along the same path?

The edge post processing in Artlantis is hit and miss for me, I can't get over the "poor" line quality and "marching ants" feel with the lines.

"Marching ants" from artlantis:

There is no possibility to export camera paths from ArchiCAD to Artlantis. Workaround is needed - probably you could export ArchiCAD keyframes and after using "Use reference file" in Artlantis merge them and use for animation keyframes (probably).

OK so I think Ive gotten somewhere...I can do the animation in ArchiCAD with the sketch render, then export keyframes to Artlantis to do specific individual views rendered, then merge them in After Effects...effectively animating the building form then stopping on a specific view, fading to a rendered image and holding for a moment, then fading back into the sketch animation.

That should work for my immediate goals...I may have to settle for the "marching ants" merging to rendered animation all from Artlantis if I want to have both sketched and rendered animations together.

Now time to play with this and see what I can come up with...Ill post my results

Thanks for the help!!!

Ok heres what I got in only about 30 min of work...poor quality renderings but this was of course just a test...
