Hello,

I created this little scene and rendered it lastnight, I can't believe that a Lightworks novice like me can create such real life images so quickly.

Graphisoft has done an incredible job with 9.0 and lightworks.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

playing with the pine floor - bit oversize lightworks shader - all exterior light. windolites moved outside of glass - res 5x5 - intensity 33

sun = key light
windos = modeling light
ambient is fill light


next goaround would have more sun intensity but this matches the exterior lighting setup just right.

to hard to see. render it bigger than a postage stamp and then post it.
You didn't put that extra chair in there to hide the to-many-shadows effect did you? It is the best I have seen so far.

The finesse of the rendering is damaged by the JPEG. and since I am developing this into a lesson, there's some other work done on it, but the easiest way to fix this would be with a little general light in the foreground.

Hope its big enough for you, big stuff.

I give up! this is the best i could do with Lightworks and it took for ever.
At this point I am not very interested in learning how to use the ArchiCAD LW engine.
It takes way to long to generate an image. The light is very hard to control, it uses up all my memory so I can't work on other stuff while its rendeing, there seems to be no way to make a quick test image that will demonstrate the predictable results of a larger best quality image. For the time it takes me and the amount of learning required for me to use it, i would rather learn how to use a program that can give me the results I am looking for. After giving Lighworks a try, I find that it is just as I predicted. I don't think the Lightworks we have in ArchiCAD is never going to be a viable option for me to render with since I already have Art*lantis. I am reasonable sure that even if it were the only rendering software I had I would not use it.
Perhaps when I get the book Dwight is working on I will change my mind. I am very skeptical.

Well, I'm becoming a lot more comfortable with the program. I think the capabilities are endless, and I enjoy the fact that I don't have to use any other program to render.

It wouldn't take me very long to recreate the scene. I'm understanding the sun object more and more everyday (I work mostly on exterior renderings). Once you figure out the quirks of the sun object and LW materials editor you should be well on your way.

Steve lighten up and give LW a chance, it's fast (I think) and the end result is usually more than enough for most clients.

Dwight, seeing that this file/scene will be an excersize in the book, does this mean I get a free pre-released copy????

Here's another refined shot that took like 1/4 of the time to render compared to the original.

Personally I think this shot is pretty good, except the fact that I didn't include any background imagery through the windows.

The "chrome" look adds to the furniture.
