Artlantis 3 problems with views and postcards.

Hi,

I want to render a plan view of my site which is 70% grass and trees. It will be a parallel view so shading is needed to add depth to the trees etc.

I've added a postcard (default) onto the lawn but nothing appears to change when I render it. Also, when I select the parallel view, my render/view window is completely blank. I don't see anything in the camera view dialog nor when I pan around.

I'm very new to Artlantis and any help is greatly appreciated... deadline tomorrow

Thank You

Not that the attached is for reference, I hope to use a parallel view when I find out why it's not working for me.

Dragging and dropping a new shader, whether from a Postcard or not, only makes that shader visible is you do not already have an (ArchiCAD) texture associated with the surface.

If your model came from ArchiCAD, you need to select the surface and with the Shader Inspector and drawer open, delete the ArchiCAD texture (or if you want both, change the opacity of the texture so that the shader can be seen).

The parallel view issue is because each new view of any kind has its own associated sun/heliodon and light groups. No doubt your new parallel view did not have any lighting selected. You can simply select the same heliodon name as you are using with your perspective view if you want to use the same time of day/etc.

When I select parallel view then chose the hadroipn light from the drop down menu infer lighting, still nothing happens. An I doing it correctly?

I would upload the file but out Internet has been down for hours and I only have my iPhone... Perfect timing for the 9am deadline 😕

If you are sure it is the right heliodon (you will have at least two), then your parallel view point might be inside an object. Here, as always in Artlantis, you should open the 2D window to set up your view and clipping.

I'm not sure that I have 2, I can only see one under the light drop down. When I open the 2d window and move the clipping, I still see nothing.

I got it working! I think the parallels didn't show anything because none of the layers were turned on...

I've rendered, again the grass looks very poor, I've used the dafault lawn postcards...

Add a new heliodon in the Heliodon inspector as shown in the attached.

Set up your parallel view as shown here - Artlantis Views have a similarity to ArchiCAD views in that different settings are associated with each one.

So, select your view in the tray (East Elev in my example), then select the appropriate lighting and visible layers.

And, last, be sure you use the 2D View window as shown here to set up your view point and clipping boundary. The red dot in the screenshot is where I am standing, looking at the model (east elevation). The blue dot is my target - so the trees will show up in the background of the elevation.
