Trees, but no shadows

Any clue on how to get trees to throw a shadow. Am using the new AC special library, and the typical AC trees in the object library. Not the bmp slices.
shadow selection is on in the parameters; generating a photorender image in 3D using lightworks.

Are the shadows on in the photorendering settings? Are the light sources set to cast shadows?
