I am having trouble under archicad 9 when rendering billboard objects such as "tree bitmap" or "people bitmap". Specifically the object will not cast shadows, even though the object is set to cast shadows. All other genuine 3D objects cast shadows in the scene. This happens with the internal engine and the lightworks engine. What am I missing out?
Kind regards
The transparent picture with bitmap-picture is just possible with internal engine (not with Lightworks engine).
Or?

Wouldn't you know it. I spend hours trying to resolve the issue. Then minutes after posting, I find that there is an update patch that fixes this exact issue.

I just confirmed that people, tree and car bitmap objects in the 9 library do cast proper shadows with LW before I read your newer message.

I have build 2172 and am not able to have the Tree Bitmap objects cast a shadow when using Lightworks. The objects have the shadow parameter set to on as well as the object sun parameter to cast shadows. I must be forgetting something.
Any thoughts are deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

If you have shadows 'on' for the tree, and 'by lamp settings' in the PhotoRendering Settings dialog for LW, and your sun is at an oblique angle to the tree builboard, then I can't imagine why you're not getting shadows...

Works fine for me, Scott. I even get soft shadows form the LightWorks sun objectSomewhat awkward and embarrassing, I needed to update our SE9 Library to that PLA issued in 01-06. NOW, everything works just perfect. Sorry about that.

I couldn't privately send this to you, but thought you may get some level of entertainment out of it.
Thanks again,
Scott
