OpenGL for 3D window? And the photorendering output colors are as seen in the window inside ArchiCad immediately after the rendering is complete?

If so, then it is most likely that you have peculiar colors for your sun and/or sky and/or lamps. The OpenGL window does not reflect ANY lighting, other than a general sense of the sun direction.

If you are using the built-in sun, open the Sun Settings and look at the color for the sun and ambient...?

OpenGL views DO reflect built-in sun and ambient color, however.

It is also possible that the Brightness control for the PhotoRender is set too low.... a common error. Fix one over-bright rendering and close the dialog - forget that the Brightness is wrong because it doesn't ever reset.

hi,
all within the archiCAD windows, open GL it is, and the sun & ambient light is the default (I guess) setting of white. I did adjust the brightness upward a little, but the thing is that the clouds, well generally the whole rendering, has a slightly red tinge to it...
maybe it's my screen or something, anyway the other colours appear OK.

another question, can one reduce the reflectivity on selected materials, as my deck looks very newly varnished and glossy, which is not really how I want it. However I want the reflectivity on the glass and metal surfaces.
Or can one adjust the reflectivity, as I'm doing some bathroom and kitchen presentations and the tiles are REAL SHINY AND CLEAN, like with that OXYBRITE advertisement kinda thing... it looks like I've got faucets all over the place!

thanks again

Within most materials are individual reflectance qualities of diffuse, ambient and specular light.

Diffuse too high is where you get your trouble.

Rule of Thumb for general materials:
Diffuse = 60
Specular = 40
Ambient = 20

This is separate from mirrored qualities that should be less than 0.08 if you don't want mirrored reflections...

All on page 89 of "LightWorks in ArchiCAD."

thanks dwight, great (well better) results already.
do you have a link to the book seller for said book (or is it generally available), the archiCAD reference guide is a bit skant on the tricks and stuff.
I have potentialy loads of 3D work available if I can impress with these first projects. Also hopefully I can convice said client to go archiCAD.
