If you are just making a simple continuous animation, the Quicktime file can be written to a DVD or CD and played on any computer.
To be a pro at this you need to generate the raw fly-throughs in an application like Artlantis where animations can accelerate smoothly.
You will then need an application like iMovie to edit the clips and an application like iDVD to "author" the DVD where an introductory menu screen can let viewers select from among the clips - however you plan it in the software.
Also, Adobe makes "After Effects" for this purpose.
