Add new Multipanel door to USA library pack

The new library update for AC28 released a new Multipanel door, however it is currently only available in the INT library. It would be great if it could also come over to the USA library.

The new multiplanel door object is available to anyone if you load the correct library pack.

Anyone can use it - you don't have to load just the USA door library pack.

I think maybe what you are wishing for is that the doors in the USA library pack also have multipanel options?

If so, which door objects?

Hi Barry, I totally get I could load the INT library pack in, I'm just trying keep things simple while working on our template.

I'm hoping that the entire "special doors" folder that is in the INT library pack could eventually also be in the USA library pack. Especially the multipanel sliding door, the USA library pack only has a maximum of a 4 panel sliding door and it doesn't have near the customization of the new one.

For now I may include it in our template ,but it would be nice if eventually those were added to the USA library pack.

I am a little bit confused now.

My understanding is we all now share the Global Libraries and if we want the extra country specific library packs, we can load those in as well.

My door libraries seem set out quite different to what you show.

The INT does not show as "INT" for me - that just may be a language setting in the template.

It looks like they are the same objects that you have in INT library pack.

When I load the USA door library pack, what I see is set out totally different to what you have.

Yours doesn't say "USA' just as mine doesn't say "INT" - I think that is a language preference in the template.

But even the organisation of the library is totally different.

Seems to be the same folder in a different order and with a different numbering system - "08".

I think they will contain the same library objects.

With the Global Libraries, I was of the belief that we load the default libraries (non country specific) and then if we want extra objects, we can load the country specific library packs.

To me the USA library packs are additional content and I wouldn't normally load them.

To you they would be your default.

Or is it the case now where you (or any not INT user) would load the default library (the INT objects), and you should now use those by default now as they are the supposedly universal objects.

There is no migration from older libraries, so starting afresh should not be a problem.

Unless those INT objects do not have the settings you are requiring.

In which case you will want to load the USA library packs and not the INT ones.

But that defeats the whole purpose of having a so called GLOBAL library.

Just out of interest, when you look in the program folders, do you see a door/window INT library pack and a USA one?

Or is it exactly the same as i have here.

My library packs are organized the same way even though this is a USA installation of the program. For me the default door and window library pack is the USA one. I have to manually add in the INT/non-regional one, even if with the Graphisoft generic template.

There must be some localization that determines how the libraries are organized. The USA library is always organized by the CSI spec divisions, I've seen the INT folder organization just from other Graphisoft documentation. It seems like when you load in a non native library pack it can't interpret the folder organization and just dumps it all into its own folder.

The door and window MVOs are also dependent on what library pack you have loaded, so you have to account for that if you want to use an object from a different library.

It all seems pretty counterintuitive to being a "Global" library. I initially interpreted the Global Library as there wasn't going to be any regional packs but just behind the scenes localization to switch from metric to imperial.

There is now Library Localisation that is set based on the local Archicad language version that you are using, or you can specify a particular localisation if you want to.

So as you are using the USA Archicad version, you will automatically have USA localisation (or localization - because you guys spell funny 😉).

And the USA library packs will become your default library, and you see the library organisation based on the USA setup.

I use AUS version which would be based on INT localisation.

I am still not sure exactly how this is supposed to work.

My understanding is that all nationalities should be using the default (non-country specific) libraries and adding in the specific country libraries just to add a few extra localised objects.

It seems that you (and I assume other nationalities) see the default library as "INT".

I assume that the majority of objects do not sow as "INT", only those for which there are specific language versions, like the doors & windows library pack.

I can't say if the USA library packs have only extra USA specific objects, or if they have all of the objects as seen in previous versions of the libraries.

I have no old USA version to compare with.
