Project Info - Revamp

The project info is very limited in its layout.

It is good that we are able to have custom project info text but being unable to delete or rename the default entries is very limiting.

The project info also reorders the custom text which causes confusion when trying to find the correct entry from a large list.

I see a forum post from 2022 that says that this was in the Wishlist database at that point in time but cant see anything for it now.

Hi Jeff,

Even if you're working only in 2D, using zones, for example, is more efficient than using hatches. However, you didn’t mention exactly what you do.

Looking at Mark’s example, the overall approach seems quite inefficient - things like waste bin specifications, apartment counts, parking counts, and so on. Looking at Patrick's, the sum of all areas in the project also depends on other variables.

These are variables that tend to change during the planning process, whereas project info is usually static. If you try to include every possible variable in the project info, it quickly becomes impractical, and it’s hard to imagine how that could be properly managed or automated, even programed by the developers.

In this case, it’s better to use the available objects, tools, and schedules in Archicad and place them directly into layouts. That way, tables can update automatically after changes, instead of requiring manual checking and re-entering data into the project info.

Anyway, this is drifting a bit from the main topic. 🙂
