Wishlist | Ability to show Solid operations in plan view

Josh Verran
Advisor

I feel like I'm missing something here, but when you perform a solid operation (for example: cut a flat area out of a sloping site mesh) you can see that affect in all views except plan views.

My wish would be to have the ability to show all object accurately in plan, which would include there current shape, not their shape prior to being operated on

"plan view is an orthographic projection of a 3-dimensional object from the position of a horizontal plane through the object. In other words, a plan is a section viewed from the top. In such views, the portion of the object above the plane is omitted to reveal what lies beyond. In the case of a floor plan, the roof and upper part of the walls may be left out. Basically, a plan view is just another name for the top view of a 3D object".

'Appreciate the engagement and insights shared here. This topic has been thoughtfully reviewed and considered within the broader scope of our development planning. While it remains important, our current roadmap is committed to other priorities, so we’ve placed this wish in an “on hold” status for the time being.

The plan representation of Slab and Mesh is lacking.

We need to be able to see any SEO and Trim operations in plan view as these are vital for the model representation and for the construction process.

If I have a set-down in a slab I need to be able to see it in Plan. I should not have to create a second slab that is slightly lower in order to get the right representation if I can do an SEO.

not sure why this wishlist option is "on hold"... seems like maybe it deserves a bump/refresh.
It came up just this week; raking walls trimmed to roof have no way to show cut above the cutting plan and outline below. Its a weak work-around to split the wall and have one wall at outlines only, the other at symbolic cut. It should just respond in plan to where it is cut/meets the cutting plane

It's on hold as it is an extremely difficult thing to implement in ArchiCAD, and requires major re-coding. Plan (symbolic) views and model views have always been disconnected and its one of the differences between ArchiCAD and 'non-BIM' modellers such as Rhino. I hope they come up with a way to even just indicatively show the result of SEOs in plans as its one of ArchiCAD's biggest failings at present
