Preferences not loading

Hello,

I have a palette type dialog where i save the state to preferences after the user clicks a checkbox. 

But when loading the preferences back when the dialog opens after a program restart no data is found. 

When debugging i found that if i save the dialog state to preferences and then load them right back they are found. It is only after a program restart when the dialog opens that no data is found.

This is how i load and save the state using preferences:

When using the same loading / saving methods for a non-palette dialog it seem to work as expected. I realize this might not be enough information, but has anyone had similar trouble?
