Constant crashing

Hi, I'm pretty new to Archicad (and CAD in general), so please forgive me.

I built a model in Archicad and am attempting to export/render it in BIMx so that I can show colleagues what I've done. My problem is that no matter how I attempt to do it, I have problems with crashing. If I try to export it with GI enabled, the export process crashes. If I export without, I can usually create the .bimx file, but then the viewer crashes when I try and walk through it, regardless of lighting options.

My bimx file is 220MB and has 7467K triangles. I'm trying to use it on a late 2012 iMac with 16GB RAM and a quad-core 2.7GHz i5 processor. Is the problem that my model is too complex for the resources available?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

7.5 million triangles sounds like a lot!!!
You can test this yourself by simplifying the model by reducing the number of polygons to its half, fifth or 1/10th, then see if it saves and not crash.
