Is BimX really this slow?

1. BimX is not 64 bit?

2. Does not use 100% of the CPU?

3. Not multiprocessor aware?

These and many other issues in BIM Explorer were listed in a Wiki article about Virtual Building Explorer (previous name for the product), but that article is not available at the moment. I'll check on it.

BIM Explorer is apparently multiprocessor/multicore aware on Windows. It is a Mac issue that it will not use more than one core - and not even 100% of that one core - when generating the global illumination solution.

The latest version at least responds to alt-tab to let you switch to other applications while it slowly generates the lighting solution in the background.

Dear Karl,

our latest version of 64 bit BIMx is using only one core of processor from six, while generating global illumination on Win7. So it's not only MAC issue.

That is true that:

1. This version of BIMx is not 64 bit.
2. Does not use 100% of the processor, because it rather uses the Video Card.
3. Multiprocessor awareness is not supported at the moment. (But we have plans to change this.)

ejrolon, great polygon number or texture texture could be behind the troubles on ipad.

Objects, even though they are not huge MB-wise, can have a TON of polygons and really slow down a model.

There could be an error in 3D or something else that is slowing down the file. Also try re-exporting the BIMx file. I've found that re-exporting the exact file is all it takes to make it work. My guess is that sometimes the translation process goofs up?
