GDL Web Control and MacOS X

I have been looking around by using the search function of this board, but haven't found any thread, which fits to the following point. So if this has been discussed, I would be glad to get a link to it. Otherwise here's the question:

Has anyone got run the 'GDL web control' on MacOS X?

In the last years I tried from time to time to install it, but gave up every time after a lot of tries. I have installed all common browsers, but none works as right as on Windows. Only the ie brings up a preview of an gdl, but hangs just before completing the download.

So if anyone has got it:
- Which browser?
- Which plugIn?
- How?
- How to install it on Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox?
- Knows anyone a web-link with an embetted object, which should definitively work?

Hello Frank,

'GDL web control' works fine on my Macs with
following setup:

-Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (5815.1)
-MacOSX 10.3.6
-GDLWebControl 2.01INT

I think that IE is the only MAC browser that the web control
supports. In addition the plugin doesn't support javascript
on MAC- so if there are buttons etc. on the object web page
they are not working. BUT all the functions and windows of
the object itself work fine.

I have downloaded and installed the plugin at;

<http://www.graphisoft.com/ftp/gdl/webcontrol/plgn/GDLWebControl2.01INT.hqx>

If You can't get the plugin working, can I send You html code
to try a web page locally on Your own machine with Your
own objects.

Hope this helps.

Hi Juha!

WOW! There's one, who got it! Light at the end of the tunnel.

My configuration:

-Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (5815.1)
-MacOSX 10.3.7
-GDLWebControl 2.01GER

To use the german instead of the international version shouldn't be the problem, but I will try your link.

How have you installed the webcontrol? If I start the Vise-Installer I have no options to set destination browser, path or volume. After installation the plugin does not work neither in ie nor in moz&co.

The following link does not show its objects for me: http://www.a-null.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=003045;p=1#000012. Can you see them?

If you have no link, which should definitively work, I would appreciate your file(s).

What's about your Quicktime settings? I can not disable the bond of GSM to quicktime. But don't ask why, the browser do not want to play GSMs as soundfile any more. A bit suspicious.

OK. I gave it a new try, and found something more.

In ie I can 'kill' the GSM-Quicktime connection in the MIME settings dialog of ie. The example page on http://www.gdlcentral.com/ shows the objects now correctly. But why not on http://www.a-null.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=003045;p=1#000012? Maybe it's java scripted. I can not look into the bbs software.

In the newsletter http://www.gdlcentral.com/files/newsletter/news062703.html I can learn, that the plugin should work with netscape 7 too, but I can not get it installed. Have you tried it? They wouldn't write it if they wouldn't have tried, isn't it?
