ArchiCAD 13 64bit Navisworks Addon

Just downloaded the exporters package from Autodesk to be able to get a model our of our ArchiCAD 13 machines for a consultant to be able to use it in their Navisworks 2011 model. I want to also be able to check its display in Navisworks 2011 Freedom so that I can have some level of confidence in the translation.

The installer only has an option to install a 32bit add for ArchiCAD 13!

I tried to use the 32bit addon in the 64bit ArchiCAD but it won't load and I get the following message from Add-on Manager;

"The file is an outdated Add-On that cannot be used with this ArchiCAD version."

Does anyone know a way around this or where I can get a 64bit add-on?

And to now make things worse we have ArchiCAD 14 projects now and to get them to Navisworks I'll have to back-save them to version 13, fix all of the library errors, strip our any 2D data so that I can open it on a 32bit machine and then export to Navisworks...

I don't have a solution to your version 14 problem but maybe there will be an add-on soon.

But can you install the 32bit version of 13 on your 64 bit machine?
I don't know for sure as I am still only 32 bit myself but both installers are on the DVD. You just have to manually run it yourself.

And why would you need to remove the 2D data from the converted file?
32bit should open a 64bit file with a warning message about file size being a possible cause for concern.

You should have no issues saving an AC14 file back to AC13 and opening in AC13 32bit - this is the workflow we are using at the moment and have not encountered any problems.

BTW has anyone noticed that if you embed all your objects into the 14 file, then save back to 13 that one of the processes Ac runs through is 'object conversion'? AC automatically converts your 14 objects back to 13! Really handy and this saved my bacon after I absent-mindedly opened one of our objects in 14 and saved, which was closely followed by black dots appearing in all our 13 files.
cheers,

Is there any new developments in using ArchiCAD 14 with Navisworks?

I also need to generate ArchiCAD models for use in Navisworks.

Don't expect support in AC14 until the next version of Navis comes out. It's unlikely that there will be a midcycle release to help a Revit competitor, and that's also been the pattern for the last few years.

If you don't need the special features of the Navis export you can use DWG. It's a big file to start with but once it's converted to Navis it gets much[/] smaller.

Hey All,

There is now an exporter for AC14 & 15 available here:

Can someone test it as I don't have AC installed....
