ArchiCad Spline to C4D and model

I'm hoping someone that uses C4D for modelling can help me here.
I have been using the exchange plugin for years to take 3D models into C4D and rendering in Vray, which has been great. I now have to use some of the 2D ability in ArchiCad to 'draft' up some sinks, basins etc that are very specialised for a project. I also need to model them in C4D for some pretty pictures.
The first issue is getting the splines into C4D. Has anyone got any tips? I've just saved as dwg but the scale seems to be way out so maybe it's just a matter of playing around with it.
The BIG question is modelling with C4D. I have very little experience actually modelling in C4D. What is the best way to form these simple surfaces. They are mostly stainless steel basins etc so I was thinking of using a spline-surface plugin like Splurf or Spline Patch. Has anyone got any ideas?
