Dear oreopoulos (but also for the other ArchiStair users!),

in the attached image you can see a possible solution about the text orientation in the ArchiStair symbol.
This solution follows the ArchiCAD rules (in the middle you can see what ArchiCAD does with the texts along a 360° rotation).
Of course, along the flight, when the tread orientation changes causing the text angle reversion we will get a “shift” of the string along the opposite side, otherwise the text could overlap the stair symbol.

Do you agree with this solution?
Does it fit to your need?

I’d like to receive some comments before to implement it in the next maintenance release together with the stringer hotspots issue requested by Joseph.

Mmmm...

It could be a trouble coming from the AC9 Working Environment.
Do you see the ArchiStair menu in the Extra menu or somewhere else?.....

If that Question was for me. I see the ArchiStair menu in the Extra menu, (as shown in the right part of the last attached picture). It states it as ArchiStair 1.01. Also ArchiTerra displays as ArchiTerra 2.02, but the current apx file is the 2.05 version.

Both ArchiStair & ArchiTerra work fine, it is just the Extra pull-down title that is incorrect. I hope not to have, delete this menu from the Working Environment with each update and then recreate it.

I just checked this issue:

inside the ArchiStair code I can see the right version so I can only suppose it is due to ArchiCAD or better, to the Work Environment new issues that store the user settings and, probably, also the add-on names.

Probably Graphisoft could help us in understanding this issue...

Dear friend,

yesterday Orsi (from GS Tech Support) has been so kind to contact me about this issue, we discussed about it and we found the reason of it.
It’s not a bug, it’s not a malfunction, it’s only something anybody should know.

First of all, let me say, that this issue can be define an “aesthetical” matter: notwithstanding the add-on menu name, for sure the add-on is well loaded and won’t provide you any trouble!
If you really want to be sure about the version you are running, simply use the Add-on Manager function and here you will be able to see the version of the loaded add-on.

Another clue, quite important to understand why this “bug” has been discovered only by some of you, is that it should occur only if you are using a customized working environment.

Ok, now let me try to explain you what is happening (I hope I will be enough clear, otherwise I will be ready to provide you with more and better information).

When you create your own Working Environment profile you save a “snap-shot” of you current environment that can includes also the ArchiCAD menu status/configuration.
If when you created you custom environment profile you already have installed one of our add-on, also this menu will be save with your profile.

When, later, you will substitute the add-on with a newer version and you will still use this custom profile ArchiCAD won’t change/update the menu name because it cannot know if this name is the “original” one or a name menu customized by you.
I mean (quite difficult to be clear…) let’s imagine you customize your ArchiCAD menu also changing the menu name: for example you created a menu naming it BOM instead of Calculate.
This has been you own choice so ArchiCAD will preserve that name.

In this case, when you update the add-on, ArchiCAD finds (stored in your customized working environment) the name ArchiTerra 2.02 and it assumes this name should be correct (it could be derived from you customization like in the previous example).

What can you do?
Three options:

1. don’t care about the menu name (if you want to be sure use the add-on manager and then don’t care about the name)
2. Use the working environment to manually rename the menu name in order to “synchronize” it with the loaded version then (VERY IMPORTANT!) save you changed profile.
3. When you load one of our add-on, after loading it, immediately change the name of the menu (then save the profile) deleting the version number: in this way the name will be “correct” also for the next update

Please, don’t ask us to avoid to put the version number in the name of our add-on: we adopted it because you (I mean our users) asked for it and it solve a lot of troubles…

It is often said that there is no "dumb" Question,so....

You are saying to " immediately change the name of the menu (then save the profile) deleting the version number"

I assume that the changing of the menu name is in the Work Environment see Screen Shot. How are the names changed? I would like to just change them the "ArchiStair" & "ArchiTerra" with no number.

Sorry but I was so in a hurry to reply to this post that I forgot to write something else… Thanks to the always precious Karl that sent me an e-mail about this!

After renaming the menu, the current Command Layout Scheme should be saved otherwise it will be considered as a temporary no-name scheme and it will be lost the next time you will aplly your desired work environment!

After renaming the menus, you should click on the Command Layout Schemes on the left so you can select your preferred stored scheme from the list and click on the Redefine button on the right to save the new menu names into your scheme.

Thanks again to Karl… I’m really ashamed a made a not complete tutorial!!!
