McNeel are also scheduled to release a Mac-Native Rhino3d version for their next version (Rhino 5 ; already in open beta on both Mac and PC platforms).

So coupled with this, I also don't think a Mac native Revit version should be that far behind.

And when you consider all this, combined with a weak ArchiCAD 14 release by GS, then yes, they are definitely looking down the barrel of a gun. Especially if they don't deliver a compelling enough new version next year (and I mean light-years ahead in terms of improvements and user-wishlist requests fulfilled) for version 15.

For all intents and purposes version 14 doesn't qualify as an actual upgrade - more like a maintenance update (version 13.1). And a lot of the users who've previously refrained from switching over to the Autodesk side, due to lack of Mac Native products, are soon (sooner than we think it seems) going to have more viable options and less reason to have to stick with GS.

I can't help but wonder, looking down the road, if this Mac-AutoCAD is successful and well received, how long before Autodesk decide to port over some of their other big applications like 3ds MAX (Maya is already dual platform), Inventor and the like.

Hmmm... At least one long-time Autodesk watcher thinks this is a fake. On the other hand, the guy who posted the grabs has almost 6000 posts on the italiamac forum - so one would think he'd not risk his reputation on a hoax.

Will be interesting to see where the truth lies. 😉

At the last Autodesk University keynote presentation, they explicitly mentioned that most Autodesk products including Revit, 3ds Max & Autocad will be mac compatible.

This may refer to running in VM as a supported config. I think I heard something about that. AFAIK the registration problem in Boot Camp still exists. You'd think if they were really interested in the Mac market they would at least fix that.

Of course if they really are planning to port the line to Mac that could get interesting.

Good news! Thanks. Maybe it was my complaints that pushed them over the edge 😉
