C4D plugin - any success?

Has anyone had success exporting files from ArchiCAD 9 to Maxon Cinema 4D? I have been unable to locate a plugin or patch that works. All I can find is pieces that are 8.1 specific. I've visited the Maxon site and downloaded their patches but no luck and I've received no responses from their support.

Back in ArchiCAD 7 I saved the model in 3DS format and brought it into C4D with no problem, I assume that this would still work.

Matthew, thanks for the rsponse. Yes, 3ds files are import-able, but the layer names are unidentifiable in C4D - meaning you have to re-identify and re-name all the layers. .obj files actually work better. The "exchange" plugin from archiCAD eliminates this to a great degree saving lots of time, which is why I'd like to get it up and running.

I'm surprised no one in this forum has experienced similar difficulties. If there is a step or download that I'm missing, please, lend me your knowledge. Thanks.

Export using the Obj format. One useful trick is to make multiple exports (walls, slabs, terrain) by type and color to avoid confusion in C4D.

Layers-Materials 3ds export brings in layers, right?

In November I spoke to someone at Maxon and they were working on Exchange for AC9.. I suppose they still are.. Pretty happy with 3ds export but if you make changes in AC materials have to be redone after remerging the file..

I usually assign materials in C4D and keep the on a different tab on the materials palette. The trick about exporting in "pieces" is that if you change the model in AC then you only have to export what changed and delete the element in C4D.
The working concept is that AC is used for modeling and C4D is used for materials, lights and cameras.
