Exporting through IFC

Hello,

I have problem in exporting IFC file from Archicad14 to Tekla Structures17.
Holes created in slab do not get recognized in Tekla.
I have attached an image showing actual slabs(grey ) in Archicad and Slabs in Tekla(green).

I have used default setting of Tekla translator in Archicad.

Does anyone know the solution for this problem?

Regards,

Ratna

Have you checked the file in an IFC Model Viewer? I drew a slab with a hole, saved it as an IFC 2x3 file using the Tekla translator, then opened the file in Solibri Model Viewer and the hole was in the slab. I do not have Tekla to check on that end.

+1

Always check your IFC output in Solibri Model Viewer before trying to import into another application to verify everything has been exported correctly.

In this instance SMV will quickly tell you wether you need to look at your AC export settings (no holes in SMV) or if its a Tekla import issue (holes in SMV)

P.S I assume these holes were created with the slab tool itself, not SEO'ed?

This might be it, as the SEO results do not show in exported IFC; have not checked in 15, but they definitely don't in 14.

Another quick and good IFC viewer is Tekla BIMSight

This is why i was asking .. I'd have to double-check but i think they do now in AC15. When we changed from 14 to 15 I noticed SEO-generated openings in walls were now being explicitly recognized as an IFC opening vs a simple hole in the wall geometry in 14 which threw up a whole bunch of new clashes in Solibri. This prompted me to do some further testing and there appear to be a number of changes around export of SEO's to IFC in AC15 ... none of which I could find documented anywhere (surprise).

I will try and dig up my findings

The holes are created with slab tool itself.
Actually I haven't check model with Solibri model viewer. Is it free for download?

My exported file was checked by Tekla Technical adviser and he is trying to find out the import option in Tekla. Meanwhile I am searching mistake in exporting IFC model from Archicad 14 and I don't know IFC export settings for Tekla Structures Translator in detail. so I kept it default and all constructional elements as auto in Archicad.

Yes, I have BIM Sight and I will check.
Hope it will work.

Thanks to all and Regards,

I have just checked the 15 export and yes, the SEO results are as they should be.

The Tekla export should also work. If it's OK in BIMSight, I see no reason for it not to be OK in Tekla.

I am now coordinating with an environment consultant using Revit, and checking my export before he starts complaining 😉 I also asked the local Tekla guys to look into this, as that path awaits me soon!

Yes, I checked the model in BIM Sight and in that the holes are clearly seen so the Archicad's Tekla Translator is correct.

Must be problem in IFC Translator in Tekla Structures.

Graphisoft has provided links to free viewers here:

I think Solibri is the only one that runs on Mac.
