ID field character limit

Anonymous
Not applicable
Currently the element ID field is 15 characters long. I am attempting to compile a construction kit of favourites which will cover the domestic work which makes up almost all of my workload. I would like each favourite to have an ID where:

The first three characters are a Uniclass schedule G ref; the next three are a Uniclass schedule J ref, and then say fifty characters for an abbreviated description. In this way I can compile lists and schedule according to Uniclass elements and include a direction to the materials & workmanship spec via the sched J portion while critically allowing the builder to recognise the nature of the element from the drawing label. So, Graphisoft, what about a 64 character ID field.

You could use an IFC field that you create yourself instead of the ID field. Then you have 225 (or is it 255) characters to play with

The 15 character limit to the ID no longer exists in ARCHICAD 19.
