IFC Export to Revit Structures

Has anyone had any experience with structural consultants using Revit Structures and the experience exporting the model data to that platform?

I realize that Graphisoft probably doesnt want to mention a competitors platform on this site but I am trying to help a structural consultant make a decision on the right software to serve their practice with clients that use both ArchiCAD and Revit.

I am also looking for a structural software and I am inclined to use RISA the full package, including 3d, floor frame, concrete, base plate, footing, masonry and wood. It is approx $5,000

Note:
This is geting so simple that if Architects keep refusing to design structures will soon be delicenced from this aspect of the practice.

In fact what Revit structure does it defines and an analytical model so one can then use an external engineering tool (Risa Etabs etc). Without this the model is just a lifeless thing, no loads and forces. When defining the analytical model one makes changes to the physical one.

Question: is Archicad capable of this?

I have just learned that Revit Structures 3 supports IFC import. This is a change from the older thread you directed me to. The question is what flavor, 2x2? I don't really care what application the engineer uses to run analysis. What I care about is the ability of Revit Structures 3 to import and contribute to the structural system of the BIM so that I can re-import that portion of the model.

Does anybody know what version of IFC Revit Structures is now supporting??

I don't unless I check 😉 Anyway I know that it is lower than Archicad's.

Revit Building is IFC 2x2 certified. Revit Structures is 2x, I think. I would expect Revit Building, Structures, and maybe systems to be 2x3 certified at next release (Spring 2007) 2x3 was released Spring 2006. I'm not sure if any product to this point is IFC 2x3 certified, as even ArchiCAD uses 2x2 to interface with other programs.

There is a 12 step program I believe we are developing on this forum to help poor lost AutoCAD (ab)users to make the life altering change to ArchiCAD.
