IFC Export to Revit Structures

Has anyone had any experience with structural consultants using Revit Structures and the experience exporting the model data to that platform?

I realize that Graphisoft probably doesnt want to mention a competitors platform on this site but I am trying to help a structural consultant make a decision on the right software to serve their practice with clients that use both ArchiCAD and Revit.

Any update Djordje?
No

New projects came in, Revit evaluation expired ... duh

Well, we're about to embark on a joint venture where the "Architect of Record" insists on using Revit -- so I'm sure I'll have some interesting stories to report...

This is an old thread, but... any update, Laura or Djordje? We have some opportunities, but they would involve converting Revit models to ArchiCAD (or, forgive me, buy and learn Revit). It this market, we're looking to take any work we can get!

The project mentioned was put on hold -- it's due to start up again soon. Initially, we were going to supply the Project Manager/Architect, and the other firm to provide the production staff. Now, we've hired someone with Revit experience (meanwhile laying off 3 people with AC experience) to work on the job.

On another Joint Venture project with a Revit firm (we're the Architect-of-Record), we're trying to avoid using Revit all together. The other firm will be writing the Specifications, and working on tasks involving the interior of the building (2D information, only) -- the consensus was that if we need to involve them in 3D work, they will come to our office and learn AC.

It's been a real hot topic around here, lately, with Revit being "the industry standard", and questioning whether or not we are using the right software. My stance is that AC is still the superior product (for now) and with IFC, interoperability shouldn't be a problem (we've worked successfully with firms using Revit Structure) -- we're successful with our current software, so why should we change? Because everyone else is using Revit.

A good article for your structural software consultant

I am also looking for a structural software and I am inclined to use RISA the full package, including 3d, floor frame, concrete, base plate, footing, masonry and wood. It is approx $5,000

Note:
This is geting so simple that if Architects keep refusing to design structures will soon be delicenced from this aspect of the practice.
I am actualy using The RISA-3D, RisaFloor & RisaFoundation, they are greate and love them but they do not inport or export IFC & thats the killer. They are good in implementing IFC if they get some calls of intrest. So here is their info. and try talking with (tell them you use Archicad by Graphisoft":
