IFC Imported from Revit: Rotation difference between "Open" vs. "Merge from file..."

Our workflow calls for saving our MEP consultant's IFC models as a .mod file, then hotlinking into our Teamwork file for reference. I have one Revit MEP IFC file that comes in at a different rotation, dependent on whether I just "Open" the IFC in a new instance of AC, or if I "Merge from file..." into a blank AC file I already have open. The merge method rotates all geometry (almost about the ArchiCAD project origin) exactly 45° counter-clockwise.
  1. Is this something that needs fixed on the Revit side?
  2. Don't both options of importing an IFC file use the same import translator settings?

The image shows one ArchiCAD file, in which I opened the MEP IFC, and then another instance of the same IFC, but via "Merge from file...".

Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon 12.6.7 Monterey

have you coordinated a common survey point with your MEP consultant? the screenshot suggests not.

Maybe I don't fully understand what additional coordination for the survey point is needed? More coordination would make sense if the files were not aligned (not the same identical location), but at least the same rotation; however I'm confused by the fact that both hotlink instances share a survey point, but just one is rotated about that same point.

I think my primary confusion comes from the fact that two methods for importing an IFC in an AC file result in a different rotation.
