IFC import trouble

HELP! I am trying to import an IFC file created in ArchiCad into Vectorworks and get the message, "Bad IFC File" Any ideas?

I've had no major problems importing ArchiCAD IFC files into Revit (aside from the long beachball/hourglass time for large buildings and the inevitable translation losses). I've never tried importing IFC to VectorWorks so I can't say what issues there might be with that.

Liza,
Were you able to successfully reopen that file in Archicad?

I was able to import finally but only with most layers turned off and the file was not to scale! UGHH!

Liza,
What you are trying to accomplish taking the file into Vectorworks. Will someone be using Vectorworks to continue modeling? If so, curves can sometimes be a problem. Delete/turn off such items and try again. They may have to remodel some parts.

If in vectorworks you only need to reference the archicad model you could try exporting a 3D dwg to Vectorworks. It is a much smaller file format.
