Revit families to Archicad

Any way to use the Revit BIM objects in Archicad. Manufacturers seem to be getting on board with Revit, not so much with AC

Thanks.

I don't believe there is a way that preserves any intelligence yet, although I'm sure GS are working on it! I guess you might be able to export the basic geometry of the 'Family' out of Revit in a dumb 3d DWG format perhaps, but you would need a copy of Revit too. There is certainly no direct import into AC yet.

certainly not at this stage, without converting them to an inbetween format which as said means they lose their data/parameters.

which manufacturers were you after?

None in particular, all of them in general. Every manufacturer site I visit seems to have Revit objects; have yet to see one in ArchiCAD. I know we can make lots of objects, but it's much less time consuming to have it already made.

Here's the universal hang-up on this delima.

Since our industry WONT agree on a standard format for BIM, GDL, object, family creation of parts.....we are screwed!

And if you think manufacturers will create those objects for you in an Archicad format...good luck.

It will take a person or group of Archicad programmer GDL type users who could create custom objects for the native Archicad format so they can be embedded in an embedded library in your project.

But as you have noticed...it seems that Revit is taking the lead in convincing these manufacturers into making Revit family of objects for them....once again....it's the All Power Autodesk dollars at work. They are bigger and can push the newcomers (Archicad in the U.S. market) out of the way.

So, we are, Archicad users, are screwed.....

we'll that what we do as a business, we get manufacturers into both Revit & ArchiCAD. But in the USA it is very hard, as they have all heard of Revit already. eg what abut Vectorworks it's in the same AC boat, just as many users & no content.

I checked your website....some nice objects, but limited selection. So many objects, so little time.

dude trust me I feel yer pain here.
It seems our industry (the architectural industry) can't agree on which way to abbreviate the words "unless otherwise noted" let along getting any Archicad bim content correct.

I feel yer pain sir....I really do. I wish there was a way to either A) force sales in the U.S. of Archicad more readily or B)well.....same as a).

What ever happened to GS's strategy of adding more bills to the U.S. market when it came time to try and grab the AE userbase here?
