Hi all!
Sharing a recent experience, that could help someone:
Recently, a warehouse cladding system, built using the curtain wall tool, exported to IFC, was not keeping the surface overrides. The solution? Use the composite panel, with the actual Building Materials for the panel layers. In this case, 0,7mm external GI sheet in RAL 3009, 50mm thick PIR, and 0,5mm thick internal GI sheet in RAL 9002.
Aside from being BIM correct (yes, we have assigned the properties!) it is also more manageable and identifiable than the surface override of the panels. The Surface painter proved almost unusable, unlike Find and Select, that has worked perfectly on the panels that had RAL 3009 on the outside skin.
We have taken the opportunity to double check and overhaul the rest of the panels, so they all now have correct skins, and BMats!
Hope this helps!
