Translator for Placed External DWGs?

Please tell me how to select the translator used when placing external drawings?

When I Open, Merge or Xref a DWG or DXF i get a Settings button or menu to let me select that. But not when I Place an external drawing. Is it using the general translator selected in the File Special>DWGtranslation setup? But why then do I get a Set value of 1 Drawing Unit dialog?

It uses you current settings (most recently used or default). There is some place to set this apart from at the time of import/export but I forget exactly where it is (I don't have AC open right now). Somewhere under the File menu.

Thanks Matthew. I guess the Set (Drawing unit value) dialog is just a service to the user (since a selecct translator option is missing). Hope for better consistency in the future!
