yes activecollab looks good, there are a few similar ones out there to. I do quite like basecamp, but think it's more for internal use, rather than getting others involved....
It's basecamp here - for the past 3 years. Actually we use it specifically to get others involved, and this is particularly important because about 1/2 my projects have clients in other countries. I also have a teaming agreement with an architecture firm in another country.
Admittedly in the early days it took an effort to get the design team to use it, and even then many were not enthusiastic. In time I developed a system for easing people in, primarily through a comprehensive welcome message for new users. Now, with so many more people using facebook and the like it is
very easy to get people on board.

37signals products promote work 'ideologies' that you may love or hate. I started out somewhere in between but the more I accepted it for what it was (communication focussed, no gantt charts etc) the more useful it became. Now it is invaluable.
A little shameless plug - I did a blog post a while back on
project management and collaboration, and despite the title of the post ("...for Mac OS X") the last five products are online so OS agnostic.
