Automatic Dimensioning tool

Anonymous
Not applicable
I'm having trouble getting the automatic dimensioning tool tool to work.

I select all the walls I want to dimension, then select the dimension tool, and when I try to select automatic dimension it is grayed out (not an option).

I've tried this several different ways, and followed the steps in the ref. guide, but so far not much luck. It has worked once or twice, but I have not been able to figure out what I was doing differently.

that's your problem: you don't go near the dimension tool except to initially define its parameters.

• open dimension tool settings, set up fonts, pens, lines, sizes, etc.
• select walls you want to auto-dimension
• from your menu (these are archicad 10): Document>Document Extras>Automatic Dimensioning> and choose the type dimension you want: exterior or interior.
• use the resulting dialogue to set up what and where the dimensions will be.

It may also help to turn on the "Statusbar". It'll describe the next step.

Try changing the Command Layout Scheme in your Work Environment, to see if there is one with this menu scheme, or you can add the Exterior Dimensioning ... and Interior Dimensioning ... menu commands to your current Work Environment.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I have in fact found the answer by changing the profile to Layout. There it is.
