Autotext in Label: Net Surface Area of Outside Face

Not applicable
Good morning. I have struck a little conundrum with the Autotext function in Labels. I wish to make a label which has Gross surface area of the wall, Area of Openings and Net surface area. This would allow me to calculate Energy efficiency, (Opening areas) as well as an area of cladding for QS. However the nett surface area does not account for door areas, only windows. The above example shows 2 walls with doors with the Gross and Nett areas the same where doors are present whilst areas are good for walls with windows.
Have I not got a little setting correct, or is this constant over all incarnations of Archicad 21? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The image did not get attached. Could you try again and then check that it did attach and appears in the post?

Seems to be working for me, You might also post the parmeters selected in the wall section.

I apologise for the attachment problem. I am new to forums and am struggling to place the jpg inline. The link below is to the example on my machine.

The autotexts used are
Conditional Surface area on Outside face:
Net Surface Area on the outside face:
Analytic surface area of Openings on outside face.

Thanks for your replies and I hope you can help me clear this hurdle.
Cheers

I have been in discussion with Archicad support and have trialed different doors. Single hinged doors are fine and the calculated areas are perfect. Add a sidelight and the area does not register. Standard double hinged and any form of sliding doors do not register. I am flummoxed. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hi,

Looking at your screenshot, I think it works fine. Please take a look at the descriptions of "Conditional Surface area on Outside face" and "Net Surface Area on the outside face" on this site.

Net surface area is reduced by every opening, so it reports the actual area in all cases. The reason the Conditional Surface area is different in some cases, is that it uses the rules from 'Options>Project Preferences...>Calculation Units and Rules...>Setup Rules'. This by default says that every opening that has a surface area that is smaller than 2.00 m2 should not be subtracted, anything that is bigger should be subtracted (see picture attached).

This means that when you only have Windows (1.5x1.5=2.25) or default Doors (0.9x2.1=1.9) in your wall, each of them are smaller than 2.0 m2, so they won't be subtracted, but if you place a door with a sidelight (1.5x2.4=3.6), that will be bigger, so it is subtracted from both the conditional, and the net areas, leaving them with the same surface area.

I hope this helps with your issue. Please take a look at the page linked above to find the name of the value you actually wanted to display.
