Custom window tags

When we toggle custom window tags on, the default text size is 17.01 and we have to manually go into the settings to change to 6.0.   Is there a setting we are missing to set the text height at 6.0 no matter what?  Thanks!

Favorites -  Once you get the marker configured the way you like it,  save it as a Favorite.   Or - after you configure one in drawings, use your syringe ( press the Alt key on your keyboard and move it over the Marker node)  to pick up the settings and inject them into the other Markers you might have already placed.

The best solution is to edit the Markers GDL settings.  Do you need some help extracting the Marker from the Library so you can edit it as an object?

Thanks Steve!   We'll give this a shot.

One thing to add, is all custom smart tags create this problem for us.  Every time we toggle the window/door markers on and off, they are 17.01 size and we have to adjust down to 6.0 for every opening.  Once they are turned on and adjusted, we can switch between custom tag styles with no issue (we have two custom tags per windows style; double hung, casement, fixed, transom).

The issue we have using the syringe is, it changes the window size when injecting into an opening that has the marker turned off and happens to be a different size. We don't turn on markers until the client is ready for a bid set, which is weeks into a project. All the opening sizes have been decided on for the most part.

We have migrated from Autocad, so our thought process may be a little off when using Archicad.

One of our guys went onto the GDL code and set the text size to 6 and it still does this.  We can't find an option to add it to favorites.

The screenshot below shows a newly turned on window tag.

by toggle on and off  - are you talking about Model View Options, Layers, setting for No Marker?   Are you using a Marker or a Label to display your window size?  Looks like a Marker.

Some people use one of each for various reasons.

The Window would be the Favorite, not the Marker.

We are using a custom object marker that displays the current window/door size.  The marker text changes as the window size changes.

We've had to buy a few windows from builders because the window labels were wrong when using Autocad.  We like the way Archicad prevents this from happening and we are trying to work out a few bugs.

The image below shows how we select which marker we want to use.  One marker has single line text and one marker stacks the text like shown at the window in the shot.

I'm new to explaining something using Archicad terminology, so sorry if over explaining.

No problem.  ArchiCAD speak is different than AutoCAD for sure.

I see that you have no Window or Door Tags  (if we can call them that).  2023-07-18_13-53-41.png

Is that because you don't need them or don't have a Marker that will display both the ID Tag and the size- type the way you want to do it?

We don't use window and door schedules, so we just show the window size at each window.  The window suppliers here in Raleigh, NC like this way better and do we.

That's great.  Window and Door Schedules can be very time-consuming on our end of the stick.  And is typically futile because they may change suppliers or from wood to vinyl or aluminum... and there are a thousand options it seems that are a waste of time to pin down - and then a different builder takes the plans to a different supplier and we do it all over again.  The further you can stay away from the door and window schedule the better.   But when you can't avoid it - ArchiCAD is pretty good at it - it just takes a lot of time to be specific enough to actually place and order from an ArchiCAD Interactive Schedule.   Sometimes I use the Interactive Schedules for doors and window just to generate the data I need for Engergy calcs in the same order that I put it into the Engergy Calc app.

So the  Window Dimension Marker apparently needs to be turned off sometimes, and when you make it display again it changes the font size. It is reverting to a default.  One way you can avoid that is using Modle View settings, rather than using the No Marker option to turn it on and off.

2023-07-18_15-01-28.png  but the better solution is to try and control the default.    Could it be that you are setting the font size using an Override Style,  and when you turn it off and bak on (No Marker) it's the Override Style that reverts to default - which it should ?  2023-07-18_15-06-54.png

There are Overrides you may have on for Width and Height, and when you use No Marker to turn it on and off it is reverting to the default as it should ?   Since you have already used the GDL editor to make the setting how you want it,  it must be the Overrides ?
