Detail Markers

Hi All -

ArchiCad newbie here again with what is hopefully a simple solution - I just can't find it.

I am creating Enlarged Plans of a bathroom using the detail tool. What I am trying to do is to get the number and sheet reference as it shows up on the layout (i.e.: 1/A08) to link with the Detail Marker that shows up on the original floorplan where the view is called out. 'm not sure if I don't have the right detail marker loaded, if I need to create extra views or if ArchiCad just can't do it.

Help!

Chach,

Search help for "Autotext Reference". It ~sorta~ allows you to do what you want (text only - no number ref), but it will not update automatically if the referred drawing is renamed. Visit the Onland web site there might be something better there.

Good luck,

Ok - I've seen some info on this work around. Thanks again snap!

Chach,

Make sure the marker reference is set to "the first placed drawing of the viewpoint." I've not had any trouble with the detail marker not referencing. I use the "built in detail marker." Also this way if you move something around it constantly updates, you should not have to manually input anything. There shouldn't be a work around...

On another note, I used to do enlarged floorplans as you currently do, blowing them off plans and having them turn into 2D lines and fills. From suggestions on this forum I was pushed to do it differently, and I am completely satisfied with the results. Simply go to the bathroom in plan, save it as a new view with a larger scale, and give it a new layer combo (I call my layer combo "enlarged plans"). I also have a layer called "enlarged plans."

This way the plan is always updated, you never have to worry about rebuilding the detail. In my office a lot of people messed it up where they'd do changes in the blown off detail plan when they should have been doing it in the main plan and updating down through. This eliminates those errors.

If you do it as I suggested just create a detail marker that is not a new detail but a "linked marker" and link it to the drawing on the sheet.

Thanks Steven this is what I was looking for - both tips are very useful. I will go ahead and give this a shot and let you know how it turns out!

Steven,

In AC10? Must have temporary male blindness again, I'm not seeing it.
I agree with your process on enlarged plans as their own view.
AC14 markers are way improved BTW.

OH, I did not see the AC10. Geeze, I tried to open it and was sitting here for 10 min. then it crashed. Yes they are much improved from AC10... sorry!

Hi Steven -

I don't see any options for "the first placed drawing of the viewpoint." in my detail marker window. Is this a version problem as Snap is suggesting?

I'm in AC10.

Thanks

Just got your update as I was typing mine Steven. Looks like as long as I'm out-dated I'm out of luck

Thanks for your help though - and I really appreciate the tip from both you and Snap about blowing up/saving viewpoints so they change dynamically with the floorplan. This is the best way to keep things straight.

Thanks for your help guys.
