A Mac client in Holland is critical about the quality of his plots. He experienced a better quality of the hard copy in HP RTL or Post Script than with HPGL2, plotting on a HP1055CM+.
To plot with this HP RTL he uses the program XRIP under OSX. This XRIP is installed as a printerdriver and setted under File/Print. This particular driver has Settings of his own. When the client gives a print command the XRIP is setted to make a HP RTL signal to his plotter HP1055CM+.
Under OS9 there’s a variant for this XRIP driver, named MacPlotRaster, and everything worked fine. This MacPlotRaster driver didn’t work under OSX and the XRIP driver is introduced.
This XRIP driver doesn’t give the right result as with MacPlotRaster. So our conclusion is that XRIP is the problem.
Then the client tried to publish his LayOut to EPS, opened this EPS in Adobe Illustrator and the Plotter it with the XRIP driver, it worked fine.
So our conclusion is that PlotMaker 3.0 v3 is the problem.
Does anyone uses this way of printing to achieve better printresults?
