This question is for 28 Solo version. I think my sig might be 27.
All my dimension favorites go to angle dimensions. I want them to be linear.
I've placed a dim. Eye dropper it. Change to linear then place again. Favorite that. Use favorite and the favorite is angle. Probably 8 other ways to do the same thing, but it never sticks.

I think what you are referring to is a Geometry Method for the tool (note: it cannot be set in the dialog box, just the Info Box), so is not part of a Favorite. With no dimension selected, set the option to X-Y Only, not Any Direction, so it is the default setting for the tool.

Yes, I am talking about the input method. I have done that, but every time I use a dimension favorite (it dims on the correct layer and color), it resets it back to "Any direction". It makes the favorite halfway worthless because if you don't catch that it's set to "Any direction", it's easy to dimension something wrong.

All my current dimension favourites are 'x/y'.
If I place and angled dimension, select it and then save as a favourite, that favourite will always be angled.
But then if I place an x/y dimension and then save that as a favourite, the favourite will still be angled.
It seems once you have saved an angled dimension favourite, all new favourites created will be angled as well, no matter what the settings are when you create it.
Any direction is actually best as you can easily choose horizontal, vertical or angled as you place the dimension.
But I understand most dimensions will be placed horizontally or vertically.
If you do have a favourite that is x/y, you can duplicate it and edit the settings to create a new favourite that will be x/y.

I do not have a favorite that is correct x/y. I'll have to try and delete all the dim favorites and start again to try.
I understand the thinking that angled is better, but for us it is not better. I use an angled dimension like once every 10 projects. Having angle on for that few of uses is dumb. What I do have in every project is x/y dimension that could easily be made angle by mistake because X or Y is only off by a inch or other small amount. We do highend kitchens. I can't be short some fraction because of that. To me it's the same as you can draw 90 degree lines without holding shift, but it's still dumb not to hold shift to be sure. Well mostly sure as archicad loves to lock onto 90.004 or something insane occassionally.
