Excessive redraw times for sections/elevations

Dave Jochum
Advocate

Anybody else experiencing long update times for sections and elevations since the last Mac Sequoia update (15.3 with AC 28.0.2 build 3110)?

I'm experiencing it under Windows 11 and AC28.0.2...

Sames files saved back to 26 or 27 are almost instant.

ArchiCAD 28 /// Win 11 Pro - Ultra 7 155H - 32GB RAM - RTX 4060 8GB /// Win 11 Pro - i7 12700 - 64GB RAM - RTX 3070 Ti 8GB

That's interesting. I noticed an increase with AC 28.0.3 and then a huge increase with the OS update. It looks like it's the old, OS changes a step ahead of AC code updates.

It's gotten profoundly worse. Now doing anything with a placed elevation or section on a layout is painful. To select and move a drawing on a layout brings the spinning beach ball AFTER a delay of 5-10 seconds where nothing happens. I'm calling Graphisoft Monday morning and will report here.

Sorry--Just realized I never posted after discovering the issue. My crazy re-draw times were caused by a bad legacy object (metal chain).

how did you discover that was the problem?

ArchiCAD 28 /// Win 11 Pro - Ultra 7 155H - 32GB RAM - RTX 4060 8GB /// Win 11 Pro - i7 12700 - 64GB RAM - RTX 3070 Ti 8GB

It was not a quick process. I talked with Graphisoft tech and then sent them a .pla. We had multiple call sessions. I have gsm objects from many years back and realized that they could be an issue. I just happened to open a view that had the layer turned off that had the bad object. Then it was just a matter of rigorous investigating.

damn, i expected as much... but hoped it was a simple process.

ArchiCAD 28 /// Win 11 Pro - Ultra 7 155H - 32GB RAM - RTX 4060 8GB /// Win 11 Pro - i7 12700 - 64GB RAM - RTX 3070 Ti 8GB

Unfortunately, no. If you suspect an object, look at older 3rd party ones. Good luck.
