Graphic over-ride

Im trying to create a series of sections through a site to show 'cut and fill' so that the existing/ demolished ground is shown as a red dotted line, with the new ground in a dark grey hatch with black line. Ive been attempting to do this through the Graphic Over-ride by creating two rules, one to hatch the new ground, and one to hatch the demolished ground. The problem is the demolished ground appears to the 'on top' of the new ground, so that in some views it is shaded to the front. Ideally id like the demolished to show as just a dotted line with no hatch.
