Grid tool and section marker display in section windows

I have been playing with some of the new feature in 10 and have a few questions that I have not been able to figure out. It appears that the view of the grid lines in the sect/elev window is controled individually within the setting dialog for each sect/elev window. This however is confusing, since some of these controls are adjusted by selecting the grid lines and using the grid line settings. Does anyone know of a way to make changes globally to all (or selected) sect/elev windows. I am having trouble figuring out how the grid lines is placed vertically relative to the position of the model. Without making any changes to the default setting the gird lines were placed 50 - 100' below my zero elevation of story one.

In addition I have tried to find the control which will allow me to see my section markers in the sect/elev window but have been unsuccessful. A search of the help menu and the manual has not helped. I recall that this was supposedly implemented in 10 and am excited about the feature. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just checked it on my PC and I have it there as well. Make sure you have loaded the add-on. Check your add-on manager to confirm that you have loaded this correctly.

It's loaded fine and shows up in the Design menu. It also places fine and I can edit it's settings, but nothing shows up in the section/elevation tool settings. Can you post a picture?

Maybe check your work environment settings as posted by "gkovacsp" previously in this thread. I have started with the "upgrade-profile" which can be downloaded from the graphisoft web site at
http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/downloads/library_updates10/USA.html
See the screen shot of my section/elevation selection setting that I previously posted in this thread. Good luck.

Go to your WE/Tool Settings dialog/Section tool

There is an extra panel for Grid Tool, which must be on as well.

Thank You. There it is and there it does. I think that is the last piece of the puzzle. I look forward to getting a chance to look at it this weekend. Complexity increases by the cube of the options available. Call it Brad's new Law of Upgrades.

Gentlepeople,
Can you please advise me where on the Graphisoft site the Grid Tool add-on can be downloaded from? I must be having a senior moment as it's not jumping out at me.
Thanks,
Scott

And.....can anyone please tell me the trick to get the grid dimension strings to show up where I want them?

Section/Elevation Selection Settings/Grid Tool:
"Dimension lines:" I have this set to 4'. Per the diagram in the dialog box, I thought this should show up 4' from the top of the bubble.

"Total dimension:" I have this set to 2' Per the diagram in the dialog box, I thought this should show up 2' from the top of the bubble.

What happens:
the dimension lines and total dimension line are 2' from each other just the way I want. However, the dimension line shows up 7" from the first Finished Floor elevation (0'). I have tried dragging them to where I want them to appear but they always return to this position!

Every night I come home and work on my new AC 10 template. And every night I think I have this grid tool figured out. But Noooooooooooo. Come on guys, who wrote this tool? Someone from Autodesk?

This seems to be a bug, I'll pass on your info to Autodesk.

Maybe we can even help them.
Currently the Grid Tool automatic dimension places the dimension chain, where it would be after the first generation of the S/E. (All Grid bubbles at the same level, chain distance is measured from there.)
At this point the distance between the chains and the bubbles (which are all at the same level) are exactly, what is set in the dialog.

The user can drag the bubbles to any location - all of them can be at a different level. Where should the dimension chain be now?

Even if we update the values in the dialog, when the user drags the chain they are measured from a non-existing point. (the top where the bubbles used to be).

All I can think of as a solution is to define the position of the chain by an absolute vertical level, instead of one relative to the flexible bubbles.
