Issue with label and MEP elements

strangeday

Hello,

Have any of you ever encountered problems with the labels associated with MEP elements in section views? in particular with zero depth sections, when I try to label MEP elements(with a generixc text label), such as tube or duct routing, AC crash every time.

The only workaround I found is to set the section depth to infinite, label the elements, and then set back to zero depth(and its quite a little waste of time...🤣)

Operating system used: Windows 11 24H2

I have encountered something similar but it tells the story of MEP.

On floor plans, I label my pipe routes that go through several stories. They appear on layouts, on views, but when I export to dwg, they only appear once, probably related to the route element which they are connected to. Basically, labels show and they don't show. Schrödinger's labels.

I think it is related to their anchor point and is obviously a bug. It would explain why ArchiCAD struggles with zero depth sections - label's anchor point maybe is not in the plane which you define with your section, so they shouldn't appear, in true ArchiCAD logic.

Why do I bother with MEP at all...

I might be onto something: when I disable "Hide with associated element" checkbox inside label, they now export!

Try it, @strangeday, if you haven't given up completely.

Hello @rakurs , I've tried to disable "Hide with associated element", but archicad continue to crash, agree with You that the bug seems related to the anchor point of the tube.

Ah, the saga of the MEP tool.  I came up on this problem a few months ago, too.  My need is to have the pipe segment show in scheduling without all the baggage of other associated components. I also experience an RS status issue when connecting new pipe to existing pipe wherein it wants to marry the two sections together.  I also have some SEO operations in which the piping will not participate.

This may not work for your needs, but for mine, I’ve made a morph of a pipe connector, set it at the POC, and with that element in place, applied an ID autotext label.

Hope it helps.
