Managing File Size

Anonymous
Not applicable
A couple of my co-workers seem to remeber in one of our seminars there being a website/webinar dedicated to managing file size, and out put size.

Does anyone know of this?

And a couple questions:

What do you guys find to be a reasonable file size of a PDF you publish from Archicad, we'll say a detailed floor plan.

Is there a reasonbale file size that you find with rendered images? Or do they vary too much depending on whats going on?
-I had a 3x5 poster I was tryin to print forever and my printer was having a hard time with it, the file size was 11 MB. Too much? We have a HPDesign Jet 4500, new last year.

What do you think the maximum file size should be that is imported into ArchiCAD? (For output) (As opposed to just referencing/tracing with-in, which I make really crappy and small now)

Maybe too vague, and too many variables to make any estimates. We'll see. Thank You

All our rendered images are done at 72dpi but to get a reasonable quality for an A3 size page we will render it to 2000 pixels wide and then half the pixel width but double the dpi to 150 in Photoshop. This gives enough quality but avoids ArchiCAD having to calculate the scaling of the image.
