License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

PDF file size

Anyone have a explanation why a layout that has two imported PDF files (total size 100kb, all text) should, after publishing (to PDF) turn into a 5mb monster?

AC10 - then I think you shouldn't bother to report. There will probably be no more fixes to AC10 at all. And PDF handling has changed, to the better in AC11 (although I can't guarantee that your particular issue is fixed).
I guess AC12 will be out pretty soon, judging from the buzz. I recommend an upgrade. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

And BTW, PDF handling is simpler on the Mac.

ignore that adam . . . please report it - it's the same PDF framework running through the latest versions. it might not get fixed in any AC10 update, but at least it might get fixed for AC11 or 12 . . .

cheers

In my case, nothing imported, just a typical job, the published PDF size is 12M/page. After reduced it in Acrobat only 50K.

My version is ACD 12 AUS 2156.

In Windows there is a registry swith to turn "Font Subsetting" on or off.
If it is off then you can get very big PDF files.
When it is on the files are smaller.

You can switch it yourself if you go into the registry editor.
Look for the key ... [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD\ArchiCAD 12.0.0 AUS R1\PDF]\Font subsetting
Modify the value to "1".

Or you can unzip this file and just double click it to alter your registry.

Note this is only for Windows Archicad version 12.

Thanks Barry. Just check and my one is 1, which means open. So it could be another reason.
