PMK update posible problem

After doing an update to PM I am not able to select a layout or anything in it and all the controls at the bottom (zoom, pan, etc) are greyed out. I have to open a view from the navigator and close it, or select a menu item (book info for ex.) and then all the controls come back to life.
Usually happens if I put PM to update more than one view from the navigator (drawing usage) and then switch to another application and switch back.
I have this weeks latest AC 8.1 patch and OS X 10.3.4.
