Good afternoon team,

Is there a way of showing the X and Y dimensions of a zone? I cant seem to use associative text label in plan view and the zone stamp tool doesn't have this option. AC22

Do you know of a way of doing this?

This has cropped up a few times in the past.
Here are a couple of old posts about it...

The problem is zones are not always rectangular - can be any shape and any rotation.
Take for example the other bedroom in your image.
Does the zone include the robe as well, or just the recess to the main door so it is no longer rectangular?
Does the length of the room include the robe or not?

Personally I have a room dimension object that I can stretch to suit the size of the room that i want to measure.
It is not automatic (in that you have to stretch it yourself) but it then shows the exact dimensions I want.

Hi everyone - here is something that I've created and I am still using it.

It doesn't have a sound explanation - but I am working on it and I want to publish it online.

seems like this guy could scrpit it into a zone stamp tool. I guess question is, is how it was done and can we scrpit it ourselves into the current zone stamp tool?

Hi, I was trying to find a similar solution to get my basic room dimensions to show up on a sketch floor plan for mine and my builders clients and real estate customers etc.

Sure you can just add your text to your zone stamp but it would surely be nice if it was automatic.

Hey, have you had a chance to check out the workflow I posted? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. We rely on this workflow every day at the office. I'd be happy to discuss it further in a Zoom meeting if you're interested.

Sincerely,
Daniel

Yes I watched the video you posted above and it was cool, we use metric units in my region. I am thinking of reaching out to CI tools to ask them if they can create a fill object that will do the trick for us.

What is meant by a "fill object"? I might be able to help you with that. The object I created is always linked to the zone, and it also has a 2D fill and a surface for the 3D window.

Sincerely,
Daniel

The fill tool that can also show the area as in this tip link posted below. Sure the zone tool shows the area OOTB once a room is represented by walls.

This fill tool method is good for establishing the floor space ratio.

Can your GDL object that you created display the room dimensions in metric too ?
