Text lost in process of creating a patch

When I created a patch using the marquee tool and the "create a patch" icon, the walls, doors, fills, etc., on the house floor plan I was using appeared fine on the patch but all the text identifying rooms disappeared. I can't find anything about this in Help or the manual, and Graphisolf Tech Support just isn't answering my inquiry. Is this intentional in this process, or am I missing something.

Hi Bob,

This is normal behavior, and is similar to what you get from generating a detail in a Section/Elevation view. Usually patches are used for small areas (like wall intersections). Not sure what you're using such a large patch for, but maybe a module file would be a better solution?

If you want text, too, then you need to use the "Worksheet" tool. (assuming you're using AC11.)

By default, patches don't capture the following:

Dimensions of any type;
Text (including fill text);
Labels;
Zone Stamps;
Figures;
Drawings;
Hotspots (but the are used as insertion/selection points);
Section markers;
Elevation markers;
Interior Elevation markers;
Detail markers;
Worksheet markers;
Cameras;

The patch is really intended for patching up the model, not so much for the annotation.

Actually the Detail's functionality has been updated to include this information now if you want it. Just uncheck the 'Copy construction elements only' checkbox in the Detail Tool settings.

It certainly was during alpha and beta testing. I think the main differences are planned for the future.

Bob,

What has been said about patches is correct. The key to their use is the display order. The patch should be on top of all model elements, and all annotation elements should be brought to the front to be on top of the patch.
