Why can't I see the bow under the Slab?

Why didn't I see it?

After applying this, I could see the bottom of the slab. What did I do wrong?

Looks like your slab has the cover fill turned on.  Highlight the slab and select the slab selection settings.  Under the Floor Plan and Section group look to see if the Cover Fill is checked.  Chances are it's checked and the background fill is either (91) White or is using (-1) Window Background color.
