difference in elevation rendering

can someone please tell me how i did this and more importantly how to undo it. for some reason i have two elevations that look the way i'm used to, and two that look different and include a greyed out layout page. they are like this in the project map and view map. i can't seem to attach more than one screen shot, so here is the one that has the layout.

To attach more than one picture you just reply to the thread with a new post and attach the pics that way.

The greyed out layout page is a trace reference. i don't think this is saved as part of the view set - you may have inadvertantly turned it on or maybe opened the elevation window from the layout using the "open source view with layout as reference" in the right-click menu; though that usually this shows the view in its actual location relative to layout. it looks like the trace reference location has been moved; use the "reset to default position" command in the trace reference palette to see if it resets it.

As to the elevations appearance, it would help if you could post an image of how you expect the view to look, but look at the elevation settings dialog box under the model display tab>uncut elements for various display options.
