The greyed out layout page is a trace reference. i don't think this is saved as part of the view set - you may have inadvertantly turned it on or maybe opened the elevation window from the layout using the "open source view with layout as reference" in the right-click menu; though that usually this shows the view in its actual location relative to layout. it looks like the trace reference location has been moved; use the "reset to default position" command in the trace reference palette to see if it resets it.
As to the elevations appearance, it would help if you could post an image of how you expect the view to look, but look at the elevation settings dialog box under the model display tab>uncut elements for various display options.
